Mirjana Dobson
Mirjana Dobson (b. 1971 Australia)
Mirjana Dobson is an artist with a curiosity and preoccupation for the beauty and vulnerability of all living things. She creates sculptural organisms whose texture, colour and form closely identify with our wonderous coral reef and underwater ecosystems. Using clay as her medium, Dobson translates her observations of the natural world to reflect changes in states of Nature due to human influences.
Oecologia is a designated branch of biology that looks specifically at how organisms relate to their external world. The term was coined by the biologist / artist Ernst Heackel whose drawings and research has formed the basis of Dobson's work. "Nature has created an inexhaustible wealth of wonderous forms whose beauty and diversity way exceed anything that has been created by man.” Ernst Haeckel, 1899
