Jasmine Anne Dixon is Finalist in Shirl National Youth Art Prize

‘Ninety Seven’ is an expressive depiction of my younger brother, Daniel. In the last few years we have both begun our journey into adulthood, and our relationship has strengthened and solidified through this transition into one of close friendship. I created this piece in response to his continuously joyous and playful personality. His unconventional nature, and interest in technology, prompted me to pair his realistic portrait with 90’s computer icons and a cloud flecked sky. I tied together each of these fragmented elements with a halo of violet and pink; colours which reflect creativity and compassion. Through this portrait I believe I have been able to present an honest and emotive representation of my brother to all who view the work.
